2013 Events

May 11th - Bark For Life of Cook and Will Counties at Union Creek Community Park,
19900 80th Ave., Tinley Park, Illinois. The American Cancer Society Bark For LifeTM
is a noncompetitive walk event for dogs and their owners to raise funds and
awareness for the American Cancer Society's fight against cancer. So bring your
best canine friend and join us for a fun-filled day starting with a walk, and
then continuing with demonstrations, contests, and games. Time is from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
May 11th - The Dog Saving Network, in conjunction with US Bones, is having their
1st annual "Training to Make a Difference" fund raising event. Saturday evening
6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. For more

June 8th - the Oak Lawn Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Spring Into
Summer event, featuring the Pet Parade, Vendor Fair and New Auto Show.
The parade will step-off at 10:00 a.m. from the Oak Lawn-Hometown Middle
School at 99th & 54th Avenue and process to the Village Green (Cook & Dumke
Drive) where pet shops, groomers and other pet-affiliated businesses and
organizations will be promote their business and hand out give aways to parade participants.

June 9th - The Animal Welfare League is having a 'Shindig at the Shelter" on their
grounds from 12 - 5 p.m. Located at 10305 Southwest Highway in Chicago
Ridge, Illinois. Food, refeshments, music, kid activities, bake sale, art and craft
vendors, pet and people vendors, shelter tours, adoption specials, and the blessing
of the animals @ 2 p.m. Click the logo on the right for more information.
June 15th - Orland Township presents the 3rd annual Pet Palooza 2013.
14807 Ravinia Drive, Orland Park, Illinois 60462. 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.

June 22nd - 2nd Annual - Summer Artists Woodland Picnic Adventure. Come out
to see John Howard, our fine arts master, as he will be demonstrating and
lecturing this day at McClaughrey Springs Woods starting at 10:30 a.m. Afterwards,
we are headed to Palos Woods North for a picnic under the pavilion. For more

July 20th and 21st - The Orland Park Area Chamber of Commerce in partnership
with the village of Orland Park and the Orland Park Crossing presents the 2nd
Annual Fine Art Fair. It is at the Orland ParkCrossing Shopping Center,
142nd Street and LaGrange Road in Orland Park, Illinois. Time for both days
is 11:00 am - 4:00 pm. Fine art includes painting, sculpting, drawing, photography,
handmade jewely,printmaking, pottery, and calligraphy. Click the logo on the right

July 20th - The 2013 Windy City Pet Expo is at the Odeum Expo Center, located
at 1033 North Villa Avenue in Villa Park, IL 60181. Duration is 10AM to 6PM.
Free Admission - $8 Parking. Bring Your Pet! (on a fixed lead with proof of
vaccinations, please). I wasn't in this last year but went to it and it was really

August 3rd - Cantigny Dog Show is having their annual dog show from 10 a.m.
until 4 p.m. at Cantigny Park. Over 100 dog-related vendors and mingle with
peers on a fun day with events and contests. Located at 1s151 Winfield Road in

August 17th and 18th - Festival Of The Horse & Drum at the Kane County
Fairground in St. Charles, Illinois. This will be the first “Equestrian Multicultural
Multimedia Event” of its kind! Too many things to list. To find out more,

September 6th and 7th - Chicago Pet Show at Darien Sportsplex, 451 Plainfield
Road, Darien, IL 60561, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. both days. For more

September 28th - The Burbank Park District is hosting their 3rd annual "Pet-A-Polooza" (formerly Petnic) from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Newcastle Park. 8050 S Newcastle Burbank IL. There will be a pet parade, pet contests, training demos, DJ, massages and more!
Oct. 26th - Howloween Hoopla - at the Whalon Lake Forest Preserve Dog Park on Royce Road at the
intersection of Royce and Lisson Road in Naperville (1500 Royce Road).From 11am-3pm. More news

November 9th and 10th - Chicago Pet Show at Kane County Fair Grounds,

It's funny how this came about. We are feeding a few ferral cats in the neighborhood and one looks like it use to be a house cat. She comes up to us and purrrs and can be petted. She also has three kittens! Our goal is to capture them and find them homes. In making a post in the Oak Lawn Patch, Lorraine Swanson, the editor of this region, contacted me and we starting talking about Personalized Art Work. She wanted to do a story and here it is! July 30th - CHICAGO CANINE CONCIERGE AND MAHONEY’S INVITE YOU
TO PARTICIPATE IN THE 2013 WEST TOWN PUP CRAWL! We will run 15
weeks from Tuesday May 28th through Tuesday September 3rd and Mahoney’s
will once again be the main bar on the crawl (patrons are also welcome to head
over to Matchbox or Aberdeen Tap to enjoy food and drinks on their pet friendly
patios as well, but mostly end up staying at Mahoney’s and are encouraged to
